On June 24 I traveled to Quebec and never left the confines of my city. I celebrated St. Jean de Baptiste , or National Day with the local Boston expat community. For a few hours I was lost in the cacophony of not speaking the language surrounding me, but soaking up the atmosphere in deep contentment. It's been years since I've had this feeling. I forgot how much I missed being immersed in a culture not of my own, of not speaking the language, but of feeling part of it just the same.
Festivities on Film
Throughout the night I observed my fellow revelers and asked questions about their culture. They kindly shared a few words with me, which I captured on video.
